The DURC (documento unico di regolarità contributiva = statement of correct fulfilment of welfare contribution obligations) certifies that a company has fulfilled all its legally prescribed payment obligations to INPS – [Istituto Nazionale di Previdenza Sociale = National Social Welfare Institute], INAIL [Istituto nazionale per l’assicurazione contro gli infortuni sul lavoro = National Institute for the Prevention of Accidents at Work] and the CASSA EDILE (construction workers’ social security fund).
Why is it necessary?
The DURC is essential in order to take part in all the public works tenders, as contractor or subcontractor (check requisites to take part in tenders, for the award of tender contracts, for the stipulation of contracts, work progress reports, and to receive the final payments) and for private jobs that require building permission or a declaration that work has commenced.
How can I apply?
The DURC can be requested by building firms, either directly or through consultants or associations, by the public contracting authorities, by the certifying bodies etc… to check the status of the company and that it is up-to-date with its contributions.
